The following is a documentation of 2 workshops which are part of the design project aeng_455 summer 2012 at the American University in Cairo, one was held in Egypt and one was held in Germany at the Bauhaus University in Weimar.

workshop I facade technologies, from 18th/19th June

This workshop was held at the American University in Cairo on the 18th and 19th of June, led by Prof. Dr. Helmut Müller and organized by Dr. Christian Bauriedel. It was the introduction to the design studio aeng-455 summer 2012

workshop II CaiWei tackling history, from 9th to 31st of July

The following is a documentation of an ongoing design project of 20 students from the American University in Cairo who do a workshop from the 9th of July to the 31st at the Bauhaus University in Weimar. It is part of the design course AENG-455 and supervised by Dr. Christian Bauriedel (AUC), Dipl. Ing. Yvonne Graefe (BUW), Dipl. Ing. Daniel Reisch (BUW) and the TAs Eng. Nermin Nassier and Eng. Mohamed Aly. The workshop was organized as a online design studio with 16 students as guests working at the Bauhaus University and 4 students at the American University. The design task asked for interventions in public spaces in Cairo and Weimar, derived urban concepts from it and developed individual buildings taking the results of workshop I into account.
